We want to make Catalonia's protein in Catalonia.
We are working to build the first plant in Catalonia designed to collect whey from local cheese factories and turn it into protein. We already make protein with flavours from here. This is the next step.

Every day we throw away a first-rate protein.
Every time cheese is made, a liquid is left behind: whey. It is not just any leftover. It is water, yes, but full of protein.
Most of it, though, ends up as cheap animal feed or simply goes down the drain. It is a first-rate protein that we throw away. And then we buy it back imported, packed in plastic tubs by brands from elsewhere.

We want a plant in Catalonia that collects whey from cheese factories across the region and turns it into protein. The same protein we already sell, but made here from the very first step.
Today we buy it wholesale, formulate it and pack it with flavours from here, like crema catalana and horchata. With the plant we would close the loop: from the whey of a Catalan cheese factory to the tub in your kitchen. All of it, made here.
The most local protein you can buy should not travel from the other side of the world.
The process, step by step
A note from the founder.
I started Quota Vita® because I wanted an honest protein, no frills, that tastes of this place. The deeper I went, the clearer it became: we have the raw material right next door, and we let it go to waste. This plant is how we do the job properly, end to end. It will not happen tomorrow, and that is fine: the things worth doing are built step by step.

Where we are now.
And this is not just an idea: we are already doing it. We have processed our first 60 litres of whey and obtained a concentrate with 60% protein. With agreements in place with several cheese factories in Catalonia, we are now close to reaching 80%, using a process of our own that no one else has.
The full plant is a big project and we are building it slowly, with care and with our feet on the ground. But the heart of it already works, and every step brings it closer.
